The project at a glance
The Rivière-des-Prairies housing cooperative brings nine single-family homes together under three greenhouses, three homes per greenhouse. Residents share a community space with a regulated climate, which makes year-round vegetable gardening possible.
Located in the northeast of Montreal, on the banks of the rivière des Prairies, the cooperative sits next to a wooded park. It densifies the area while preserving farmland, an increasingly rare resource in the greater Montreal region.
The homes span two floors and adapt to different kinds of families: up to four bedrooms, a ground floor that can become an office, or a larger primary bedroom. Stairs and walkways connect the homes and the shared spaces, and a yellow pipe run winds through the greenhouse.
